Our Birds
Introducing Kata Schwartz
Whistling Gardens
Birding Photographer & Program Coordinator
Kata is a wife and mom of three beautiful children who discovered her passion in photography over three years ago when she first relocated to beautiful Norfolk County. With leaving the busy city behind, the lush countryside revealed so many rewards, igniting her interest in birds and bird photography.

What started as a part time hobby that she enjoyed with her entire family, quickly transformed into hundreds of hours in the great outdoors, connecting with nature, looking for; and photographing birds while learning about each species and their habitat. Kata can now comfortably identify over 150 different species of birds!

She also developed a very special bond with a type of woodpecker called the Northern Flicker after she recognized their ongoing battle for nesting sites with the non-native species the European Starlings. Fellow Birders are welcome to share photos and news by joining her FaceBook Group "Northern Flicker Awareness" dedicated to these birds which now has close to 500 members from all over North America: www.facebook.com/groups/515612818475653/

In 2014 she also started her own business Kata Schwartz Photography specializing in family, children, and newborn intimate photography sessions, with a creative eye to ease into capturing wedding celebrations. She is excitedly looking forward to the future, while exploring her many new goals and all possibilities!

Kata can be reached at: kataschwartz@gmail.com

Both the Whistling Gardens team and Kata are thrilled to form a friendly partnership to help document the growing community of bird life in our nurturing garden habitat!
