DESCRIPTION:Garden Design – CRASH COURSE \nMay 16th 10am – 2pm \nPlanning or redesigning your garden can be overwhelming. In this workshop\, participants will learn tips\, tricks and the foundations of garden design from a Landscape Designer. With the assistance of Heather (the Designer)\, participants will complete a preliminary design of their own garden space including dimensions\, a plant list and an idea of materials to install their plan. Supplies: Participants should bring photos of their existing garden space/area\, property survey (if they have one)\, photos (printed or on their phone) of inspirational images they like\, pencil crayons or markers (if they have them)\, and a camera (phone camera is fine). Paper will be provided. *Participants receive a 10% Garden Centre discount on their plant purchases and orders on the day! Date \,Time & Length of Program: Saturday\, May 16th/ 10am-2pm OR Saturday\, May 23rd/ 10am-2pm This four hour event starts with a guided tour of the gardens (1 hour)\, fountain show\, presentation/talk\, break for lunch and 2 hours of design work afterwards. DESCRIPTION:Forest Therapy Walk at Whistling Gardens! \nSPRING/May 24th 10am – 12noon \nRegister: https://luma.com/z7qb8s0k \nSlow down\, breathe deeply\, and reconnect with nature during a guided 2-hour forest therapy walk in the beautifully landscaped grounds of Whistling Gardens. This immersive experience invites you to step out of daily busyness and into a gentle\, mindful relationship with the natural world. \nForest therapy (also known as Shinrin-yoku or “forest bathing”) is a guided\, sensory-based practice that supports mental\, emotional\, and physical well-being. Through a series of slow\, intentional invitations such as noticing textures\, sounds\, scents\, and seasonal changes\, you’ll be encouraged to move at a relaxed pace\, rest often\, and experience the gardens in a new and meaningful way. \nCome as you are\, dress for the weather\, and allow yourself to be gently guided into a deeper sense of calm\, presence\, and connection with nature and with yourself. The session includes a tea ceremony where your guide will introduce you to a locally sourced plant for the tea. She will also provide snacks. Feel free to bring water or your own snacks to consume at any time during the walk. \nParticipants will have the opportunity to continue exploring the gardens after the event. \nGuide: Nadia Frost is a registered psychotherapist\, a certified forest therapy guide as well as a forest therapy trail consultant. She has been leading groups in local parks around the Greater Toronto Area\, helping people reconnect with their senses and find calm through nature.
